Improving Photographs With Clean Backgrounds
Getting rid of any visual distractions is an important part of an effective online photograph. It’s hard to pay attention to a single item if there are random kids, pets, piles of clutter, etc. in the photo, too. Using a backdrop is a good way to solve this problem, and you don’t even need to spring clean!
By hanging a length of fabric from a wall or draping a chair, you can instantly create a nice backdrop. For smaller items, use good old printer paper as a background for the same effect.
If you take pictures of your stock using the same background, it automatically gives your inventory photos an uniform look.
Whatever you’re selling should be the star of the picture. If the backdrop is too busy, brightly patterned, or is of a color that reflects onto the item, your star will get lost on its stage. By choosing a solid backdrop in white or black, you automatically put the focus on the merchandise.
To demonstrate, I grabbed a magnet off my fridge. Let’s pretend it’s for sale. See the difference?
