I may be offline for a while. My family is evacuating to Arlington, Texas.
If I can tear myself away from CNN, and if I can get my thoughts together enough to write a few crafting for profit posts, I’ll keep up with this blog from there. No promises, though!
And yes, I took my own advice about putting my online store “on vacation”

I’m taking the day off, sort of. The new category will house posts like this one. Hopefully, there won’t be many of them.
The past 5 days, our A/C has been dead. It’s August in New Orleans, which means 90+ degrees and 80+ humidity. Not fun for the humans, but even tougher on the animals.
The betta was the toughest. Several daily water changes in his 3 gallon emergency downstairs tank did the trick. (His regular tank is 20 gallons and there’s no way I’m draining that thing so I could move it to a cooler room!) Even with this, I had to melt ice cubes in the water filter to get the water closer to his comfort zone.
The cat was miserable, but soon found that laying on a cool damp towel was better than boiling.
My husband enjoyed an excuse to eat lots of ice cream, smoothies, and iced coffee drinks.
Uh, I think I need a nap at this point.
Thank goodness for air conditioning, and for the new A/C guy, who isn’t creepy like the last one! This blog will be back on track tomorrow, barring any more major monkey show issues around here
